Ice & Fire Con Juneteenth Statement

This statement was originally shared on our Facebook page, Twitter, and Instagram on June 2, 2020.

The Fantasy and Science Fiction community has not always been a safe space for fans of color. Like many convention spaces, we are complicit in this – intentional or not.

We stand with people fighting for their right to exist. We need to hold ourselves and our community responsible for lifting Black voices, and standing to ensure their rights to health, respect, liberty, and justice. We will work harder to make Ice & Fire Con a more inclusive space and promote Black creators and fans in the community.

Fandom spaces can be a place to debate your favorite ASOIAF theories, but Black Lives are not up for debate. Black Lives Matter.
